Fitment & Sizing

Two measurements are all you need. Measurement A — park on level ground and measure from the ground straight up to the bottom inside edge of your vehicle's receiver tube opening. Measurement B — with your trailer loaded to typical towing weight, measure from the ground up to the center of the trailer coupler ball socket.

Subtract B from A: if A is larger you need a drop hitch; if B is larger you need a rise hitch. The difference rounded to the nearest 2 inches is your size. Use our interactive Hitch Height Selector to do the math automatically.

Measure the square opening on your vehicle's hitch receiver tube. The most common size for trucks, SUVs, and most tow vehicles is 2 inches. Heavy-duty trucks and some larger vehicles use 2.5 inch receivers, and commercial/fleet vehicles may have 3 inch receivers. The measurement is the inside dimension of the square opening, not the outside.

The Liberty Core Adjustable Hitch is built for standard 2-inch receivers. If you have a 2.5" or 3" receiver, contact us to confirm compatibility.

Always measure with your trailer at its typical loaded weight. An empty trailer can sit 1–3 inches higher than when loaded, which would give you an incorrect drop/rise measurement. If your trailer varies significantly between loaded and empty, measure loaded — that is the configuration where level towing matters most for safety and trailer handling.

If your calculated drop falls between standard sizes (for example, you need 3 inches but only 2" and 4" are available), choose the larger size and raise the hitch head to the appropriate hole position. The Liberty Core Adjustable Hitch has multiple ball platform positions so you can dial in height within a range rather than needing a perfect match to a single fixed drop size. Use our Hitch Height Guide for step-by-step guidance.

Yes — significantly. When your trailer runs level, weight distributes evenly across all axles, which gives you stable braking, steering, and trailer tracking. A trailer that sits nose-high places too much tongue weight on your hitch ball, overloading your rear axle and reducing front-axle steering control. A trailer that sits nose-down shifts weight to the trailer's front axle and can cause sway. Getting the drop right is one of the most important and most overlooked steps in towing setup.

Products

The Liberty Core Adjustable Hitch is our flagship ball mount — precision-machined from high-grade aluminum, anodized and finished in powder coat or chrome. It fits standard 2-inch receiver tubes (the most common size on trucks, SUVs, and most tow vehicles) and is rated up to 10,000 lb gross trailer weight with 1,000 lb tongue weight.

The head is fully reversible so one hitch covers both drop and rise positions, and multiple ball platform positions let you dial in the exact height for different trailers without buying a second hitch. If you need a 2.5" or 3" shank, contact us — we can confirm availability.

The Liberty Core is precision-machined from high-grade aluminum — the same material category used in aerospace and high-performance automotive applications. Aluminum gives you an excellent strength-to-weight ratio, natural corrosion resistance, and a clean surface that holds our anodized and powder-coat finishes exceptionally well.

Each unit is finished in either a durable powder-coat (matte/satin black) or chrome option. Both finishes are designed to resist road salt, moisture, and UV exposure over years of use.

The Liberty Core Adjustable Hitch is available in two finishes:

  • Powder Coat — matte to satin black finish. Excellent durability, corrosion resistance, and a clean look that holds up to daily use without showing scratches or wear as easily as chrome.
  • Chrome — a high-gloss triple-plated chrome finish for a polished appearance. Corrosion-resistant but may require occasional cleaning to maintain appearance.

Both are built on the same aluminum chassis — the finish is purely a preference choice.

Yes — the Liberty Core Adjustable Hitch is compatible with most aftermarket weight-distribution head units. The shank fits the standard 2-inch receiver that weight-distribution systems attach to. We recommend confirming the specific WD system's requirements against the Liberty Core specs before purchasing. If you have a specific weight-distribution system and want to confirm fit, contact our fitment team and we'll verify compatibility for you.

For replacement hardware, warranty replacements, or accessory inquiries, reach out to our team directly. We can confirm what is available and get the right component to you quickly. We do not recommend using third-party replacement pins or hardware not rated for the Liberty Core's load capacity.

Ordering & Shipping

Yes — we ship to all 50 states. Most in-stock orders leave our warehouse within 1–2 business days. Standard delivery to the continental U.S. takes 2–4 business days from the ship date. Alaska and Hawaii may have extended delivery times due to carrier routing.

If your order arrives damaged, contact us within 48 hours with photos and your order number — we'll ship a replacement at no charge.

We accept returns on unused hitches in original packaging within 30 days of delivery. The customer is responsible for return shipping unless the item arrived damaged or we sent the wrong product. Once we receive and inspect the return, refunds are processed within 3–5 business days.

If your item arrived damaged or incorrect, contact us right away — we'll make it right with no return shipping cost to you.

Yes — expedited shipping options are available at checkout. Standard free shipping applies to qualifying orders in the continental U.S. (see the site announcement bar for current promotions). If you need your hitch by a specific date, select the expedited option at checkout or contact us to confirm timing before ordering.

Note: Orders placed after 2:00 PM CT Friday will ship the following Monday. Weekend orders are not processed until the next business day.

Orders can be modified or cancelled if they have not yet been picked and shipped. Contact us as quickly as possible after placing your order — because most in-stock orders ship within 1–2 business days, the window to make changes is short. Once an order has shipped, it cannot be cancelled and would need to go through the standard return process.

Contact our team immediately if you need to change or cancel — we'll do our best to catch it in time.

Installation

No tools required for the ball mount itself — it slides directly into your existing receiver tube and is secured with a standard hitch pin and clip (included). To adjust the drop or rise: pull the pin, flip or reposition the ball mount head to the hole that gives you the right height, reinsert and pin.

We strongly recommend adding a locking hitch pin to secure the mount and prevent rattle. Contact us for compatible locking pin options.

The Liberty Core head is fully reversible and has multiple ball platform positions. To adjust:

  1. Remove the hitch pin or clip securing the shank in the receiver.
  2. Slide the ball mount out of the receiver.
  3. Rotate or flip the head to the desired drop/rise position.
  4. Reinsert the shank into the receiver at the correct hole position.
  5. Reinstall and secure the hitch pin. Add a locking pin for security.

No permanent modifications are needed — one hitch covers multiple trailer configurations.

Torque the mounting hardware to 70–100 ft-lb. The full torque specification and step-by-step procedure are included in the installation guide packaged with every Liberty hitch. Always use a calibrated torque wrench — do not tighten by feel only. After the first tow, recheck torque as hardware can seat slightly during initial load cycles.

The Liberty Core Adjustable Hitch is a complete integrated unit — the shank and adjustable ball platform are one system. It is not designed to be used as just a shank with a separate aftermarket ball mount. Using unapproved combinations can create mismatched load ratings and void your warranty. For fitment questions about your specific setup, contact us and we'll help you determine the right configuration.

Warranty

Liberty hitches carry a lifetime structural defect warranty for the original purchaser — covering manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship, structural failures under normal towing use within rated load limits, and hardware defects in original included components. Cosmetic defects (finish) are covered for one year from purchase.

To file a claim, visit our Warranty page, fill out the form with your order number and photos of the issue, and our team will respond within 1–2 business days.

The following will void your warranty coverage:

  • Towing beyond the rated gross trailer weight or tongue weight capacity.
  • Damage from collision, impact, or accident.
  • Misuse or improper installation not following the included instructions.
  • Unauthorized modifications, drilling, or use of non-approved adapters.
  • Normal cosmetic wear, surface scratches, and finish aging over time.

If you are unsure whether your situation is covered, contact us before filing — we'll let you know upfront.

Our team reviews submitted warranty claims and responds within 1–2 business days. If your claim is approved, replacement parts or a replacement unit ships within 1–3 business days depending on stock availability. In most cases, the full process from claim submission to replacement in hand takes under one week.

To speed up the process, include clear photos showing the issue, your order number, and a description of when and how the issue appeared. Submit your claim at our Warranty page.

The Liberty structural warranty covers the original purchaser only and is not transferable to subsequent owners. If you purchase a Liberty hitch secondhand, the structural lifetime warranty does not apply to you as the new owner. The original purchaser retains coverage for the duration of their ownership. For any questions about your specific situation, reach out to our team.
